Met someone interesting. Finally!

Being alone often means longing for someone. Even if you are smiling you aren’t happy. There is always this hollowness that emptiness even if you are in perhaps the most beautiful place on Earth. It can be stressful. But then you meet someone and things change.

Forever.

This blog is where I am coming out open about things that have remained with me for sometime now. Its time you know.

Even after a few months in New Zealand, I had had only 2 types of breakfast. Oats or something called Wheetbix (an extremely boring cereal that I would make interesting by adding dried rasp berries or fresh strawberries or some other fruit). Heat Oats and 2.5 times milk in a pan in slow flame. I improvised by adding some honey, walnuts, dates and raisins on top. And in the bowl I chopped bananas on which I poured the hot oats. Tasty and healthy. The way I make Oats filled that emptiness I mentioned above.

Life was great until I met cold oats. Here is how I do them.  I put toasted oats with nuts and raisins, some flax seeds, chopped banana, flavored yoghurt, strawberries or some other berries if available and mix all of them with some milk and put them in the fridge overnight. By morning the oats are soaked and flavored. And they are super yum!!! Life will never be the same again.

And then one day we got bacon so we toasted bread and put avocado on it (in stead of butter) two half-fries and fried bacon. And a smoothie of fresh strawberries and banana. After a good workout, this heavy breakfast sets you up for at least 6 hours. I have it only on Saturdays.

On Sundays I take it easy and go for a walk to one of the nearby bays and then keep strolling around the cafes to find the best spot to settle (I have a few favourites). I order a brownie or a cheesecake or some great looking chocolate loaded cake. If I feel guilty, I imagine its someone’s birthday somewhere. I have these with a long black coffee (kind of Americano). Meanwhile, an average café here serves coffees significantly better than what we get at Starbucks. Weekends will never be the same again.

Glamour of coffee is great (and so is showing off by berating Starbucks) but sometimes simplicity wins you over. Enter Eastern Prawn Pickle and Telegu Foods Garlic Pickle. Just steamed rice and any of these two pickles is simply awesome! No fanciness. Pure humility. Take my word – its poetry in glass jar bottles. Lunches will never be the same again.

And just when I was settling down came Air Fryer. After initial scepticism, I accepted it. And in a few days I wowed that it will be with me forever. When it comes to satisfaction, air fryer ranks third after orgasm and pivot tables. I have made great roasted chicken, fish, aloo sabji, mildly marinated veggies and even bacon in it and it makes me so happy. Every time. Dinners will never be the same again! P.S. I love you AF!

As I said in the beginning, you can be stressed when alone. But it is not a coincidence that stressed spelled backward is DESSERT(copied from somewhere😋).  I must admit that Lindt is a good chocolate and so is Godiva but when I tasted Whittaker’s 72% cocoa Dark Ghana Fruit & Nut, it was love at first taste. That feeling you get in your stomach when you see her Whittaker’s. Haven’t had anything that is even half as good in that category. Generous quantity of nuts which means you will bite into some each time you make a move. 72% cocoa means bitter somewhat but not too much… just about right. A NZ brand, this chocolate is yummmmmm with a lingering aftertaste!!! Incidentally Nitish and Mario also love this same brand and variant which is a problem cause even if I love you guys, I do not like sharing chocolates, especially this one. Friendships and desserts will never be the same again!

You can’t buy happiness but now that I am in simultaneous love relationships with these items, it’s kind of the same thing.
