Shakespear Regional Park

I guess a lot in life is about range of expectations and their subsequent effects on us. With food, people and places we expect something or don’t and get less or more and are left delighted or depressed. This day was one such. Beyond expectations in a good way.   Since we were on our semester break and since it was a Monday (I love Mondays) and sunny, we went to see just another park. Or so we thought. Thomas

Thomas Pearson I bump into an extremely brief ad on a job search website. The project is to build digital presence of a 22-year-old Thomas Pearson who is physically and mentally challenged. I first meet Tom's mother Nicky who drills me on why a person with my experience would like to work on such a small project with small infrequent hours. I had never thought this would come up. I don’t know if he is completely fucked up because of the course or has learned something and is applying it to normal life - let wiser people fathom. Meanwhile it is the youngest and largest of the approximately 50 volcanoes of the  Auckland volcanic field , having formed in an eruption about 600 years ago. When you age you start liking the contexts of 600 years being youngest . After cleaning our shoes of dirt that might contaminate the island, we board a rather expensive ferry that takes us to Rangitoto. We had chosen a sunny day for this trek and it feels great that it happens to be a Monday. The pleasure of people going to work and worrying about Monday morning meetings ...
